My Story

Hi, I'm Jacki Geary, artist and founder of JAX Atelier! "Jax" is one of my nicknames, and atelier is the French word for an artist's studio.

I'm a multidisciplinary artist who has been creating since I could hold a pencil, beginning with drawing portraits as a child. For the past 25 years, I've worked professionally as a painter, photographer, printmaker, and jewelry artist. Originally from Connecticut, I now call San Diego, California home.

My work blends a modern-meets-vintage aesthetic with an East Coast/West Coast sensibility. My jewelry ranges from minimalist to sculptural, incorporating metals, patina, clay, and mixed media. I especially love working with patinas for their beautifully unpredictable, timeworn character. Texture is at the heart of my work, adding depth, dimension, and visual interest to every piece.

While jewelry has been the focus of JAX Atelier since launching in 2018, printmaking remains an important part of my creative practice. Linocut and drypoint are my favorite techniques, and I'm continually inspired by the tactile, hands-on process.

Thank you for being here and supporting my work! Creating art that brings people joy is the most rewarding part of what I do.
